International Service Committee
This year’s focus has been on the Kyakatara Water Harvesting Project in Uganda. However the club has also been actively involved in a number of other projects and events including the Rotary International Shoe Box Appeal and our Annual International Night.Rotary International 'Shoe Box' scheme The Club continued to support the Rotary International 'Shoe Box' scheme with Airyhall Primary, Cults Primary, Culter Nursery and Milltimber teachers filling 290 shoeboxes that were sent off to Eastern Europe. This year for the first time Rotary Club members were present at each school to assist with the collection. International 'Night The Club hosted a very successful International night on 7 November 2009 when 27 overseas students (from 10 different countries) who are studying at Robert Gordon University were guests at our meeting. A number of them spoke on their initial impressions of Aberdeen and what they were hoping to do after their post grad course. This was a very enjoyable evening giving the opportunity for the students to “network” with our members. The picture shows students surrounding President Mike Craig.
