Origin of the Aberdeen Deeside Rotary Club.

The decision to form another Rotary club within the Aberdeen 'an' roon-aboot' was made by 'the-powers-that-be' within Rotary International - and here we are. The Club would be sponsored by the Rotary Club of Aberdeen and would be known as The Rotary Club of Aberdeen Deeside, it would be an evening club, and would meet on a Wednesday in Cults Hotel.

The first letters inviting folk  to join was in August 2000. Gathering the membership was of prime importance, and Rotary required that prospective members should be drawn predominantly from the Cults, Milltimber, Bieldside, Peterculter and west Aberdeen areas. And so we began.

The Inaugural Dinner and Meeting was held on 29th November 2000 and was attended by 30 founder members with many other clubs represented. The meeting was chaired by District Governor Gus McDonald (Dundee), the then District Governor of District 1010 (Scotland North).

Nearly five months later on 16th March 2001, the Charter Dinner and Presentation took place in The Queens Hotel, chaired by Bill Moodie (Kirkcaldy), District Governor Elect for District 1010.
